VILLAGE MIXED USE ZONING DISTRICT - DESIGN GUIDELINES AND ODS - PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING -
PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING - VILLAGE MIXED USE ZONING DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES AND OBJECTIVE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS (ODS). Working with community stakeholders, and following several community and Planning Commission workshops, the city has completed draft design guidelines and Objective Development Standards (ODS) for the Village Mixed Use (VMU) Zoning District. The guidelines and the ODS describe community expectations for site planning, building form, activation of street frontages, and pedestrian and vehicle connectivity within the city’s Village core. The Design Guidelines would apply to new and substantially expanded commercial development in the zoning district. Pursuant to state law, the ODS would apply only to new multifamily housing or mixed‑use commercial/residential development seeking streamlined development approval. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider recommending adoption of the guidelines and ODS to the City Council on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 6:00 P.M., at the Shasta Lake City Council Chambers, 4488 Red Bluff Street, Shasta Lake. The draft guidelines and ODS can be reviewed at the Development Services counter in City Hall, or at this weblink: Comprehensive Zoning Update | Shasta Lake, CA - Official Website. We encourage the public to attend. For more information, please call (530) 275-7405.

Zoning Ordinance Update - City Council Public Workshop
CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD ZONING ORDINANCE UPDATE WORKSHOP. Following years of community effort, a comprehensive update to the Shasta Lake General Plan was completed in November 2022. Adoption of the Plan created the requirement to update the city's zoning ordinances and zoning map. This will be the first time since city incorporation in 1992 that the zoning plan will be fully aligned with the community’s General Plan vision for the future! Over the past 24 months, the Planning Commission has been working on the zoning ordinance update and has recently completed drafting a zoning plan update. (Comprehensive Zoning Update | Shasta Lake, CA - Official Website). A City Council workshop on the zoning update is planned for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Larry J. Farr Community Center at Civic Center Plaza, 4499 Main Street, Shasta Lake, CA. Among other important aspects of development, the update addresses future land use, property development standards, resource conservation, and hazardous conditions. Once adopted, the zoning ordinance will help shape the city's character for years to come. We encourage the public to attend the workshop. For more information, call (530) 275-7405. This has created the opportunity for Shasta Lake to complete a long overdue update of its zoning ordinances and zoning map. This webpage provides the most up-to-date information on the update process.
